A questão da justiça em Mateus: o caso dos santos ressuscitados em Mt 27,51b-53

Resumo

O presente artigo pretende analisar um texto controverso, peculiar ao Evangelho de Mateus: 27,51b-53. A começar por uma breve análise do marco-social desse Evangelho, será feita uma leitura da perícope em questão a partir do contexto mateano. O termo “santos” aparece na perícope como sinônimo de “justos”, o qual aparece em outras partes do Evangelho. No capítulo 23, por exemplo, Jesus condena veementemente a atitude dos fariseus, os quais veneravam profetas que eles mesmos, segundo o narrador, ajudaram a matar, e caminhavam justamente para seu maior erro: matar o maior dos profetas, Jesus de Nazaré, o Messias divino. No entanto, corrigindo essa grave injustiça, o Pai ressuscita Jesus Cristo, assim como também os profetas e justos (designados na perícope como “santos”) mortos pelas autoridades judaicas. A ressurreição de Jesus em 27,51b-53 seria então paradigma para a deles e uma resposta divina e justa ao que fizeram as autoridades judaicas.
