The article analyzes the oracle and lament of Ezekiel 28,1-10 + 11-19 from a historical-traditional perspective, exploring the literary, mythical, and religious cultures of the Middle East and Mediterranean to identify elements that contributed to the divine language of the text. It provides a translation, which serves as the basis for discussing various traditions. The article describes the presence of the literary motif of hybris against the gods, exemplified in Greek myths, the Epic of Gilgamesh, and the Hebrew Bible. It explores the association of the text with the tradition of Melqart, a deified hero of Tyre known for his civilizing role and emphasis on commercial expansion. Furthermore, it considers the possibility of a Hebrew "myth of the first human" underlying Ezekiel 28, Genesis 2-3, and Job 15,7-8, which articulates hubris in relation to the themes of wisdom and mortality. Finally, the article demonstrates the connection with the Judahite traditions of the temple, highlighting the figure of the cherubim as a central element.
