O “novo” começa no deserto (Oseias 2,4-25)

The pericope of Hosea 2.4-25 is inserted in the prophet’s personal accounts, but it does not exempt him from presenting one of his most radical judgements. His target was to rescue the Israelite faith identity, lost among the temptations promoted by the Northern Kingdom prosperity. With the call for the people to return to the desert and let Yahweh speak to their heart, Hosea developed a kerygmatic statement of all the Bible. Without recommending and offering magic and military solutions, he proposes a liberating way that depends not only on love and goodness of God but also on the God’s people will.
