The role of exorcisms in the Gospel according to Mark
Keywords:
Exorcism, Kingdom of God, Evangelization, Fulness of the TimeAbstract
It has become usual nowadays to exhibit exorcisms on television shows. This article analyzes some exorcisms performed by Jesus to better understand this question. The study of some passages of the Gospel according to Mark will show whether demonic manifestations broadcast on TV programs are in accordance with Jesus’ practice or whether they are fruit of the postmodern horizon. Although in many aspects the current worldview coincides with the cultural context of the first century, Mark’s accounts of exorcisms are linked primarily to the proclamation of the Kingdom of God and its effects on human life.
