Abstract

Narratives about the origin of a people, their traditions, culture, customs, religion and others, in some way, always present in their plots apologetic elements, aspects of differentiation, myths, conflicts with other peoples, struggles for guarantees and recognition, etc. This article presents one of the narratives about the origin of the samaritans. The emphasis, however, is on the story the samaritans tell about themselves. For this undertaking, we will use, as an analysis methodology, part of the discourse of three samaritan literatures - the Chronicle Tolidah or Neubauer, the Chronicle Katib al Tarikh of Abu'l Fath and the Samaritan Chronicle II -, and the biblical narrative, in which the samaritans see themselves as descendants of Joseph , represented in Ephraim and Manasseh.
