Arte, arquitetura e arqueologia do Antigo Oriente Próximo no debate contemporâneo e o problema da produção artística no Levante Sul - Parte 1

El debate contemporáneo sobre el reconocimiento de la producción de arte y arquitectura sofisticada en el Antiguo Oriente Próximo ha alcanzado un nivel de madurez investigativa, utilizando herramientas de la arqueología, así como de la estética, la semiótica, la historia, entre otras. De esta manera, los académicos han concluido que el arte mesopotámico posee la misma grandeza que el egipcio y el griego. A pesar de ello, parte de la región que comprende el Antiguo Oriente Próximo ha sido considerada periférica en comparación con el mundo mesopotámico. El Levante Sur, lugar donde tuvo lugar la mayor parte de la narrativa bíblica, se encuentra en esta situación y se considera periférico, no solo en el arte, sino también en la arquitectura. Aceptar esta tesis sin cuestionarla es ignorar que las mismas herramientas utilizadas para clasificar el arte mesopotámico pueden ser instrumentos de lectura crítica del arte levantino, considerando sus características peculiares, aunque en menor proporción numérica y cualitativa. No se puede relegar a la minoría periférica cualquier producción artística.
