Abstract

This article proposes a theological analysis of the houses of Jesus in the Gospel According to Mark (Mk 2,1; 2,15; 3,20; 7,17; 9,28.33; 10,10), focusing on the relationship between houses and the Word of God, through a literary and socio-historical analysis. Based on this, we discuss the importance of domestic environments for the Church today, based on texts from the Nacional Conference of Bishops of Brazil, as privileged spaces for experiencing the Word of God, being a key environment for the proposal of Biblical Animation of Pastoral Ministry (BAPM). The house is a distinctive literary motif in the Gospel According to Mark when compared to the Synoptics. In the first part of the text, Jesus' house structures new relationships, welcoming sinners and offering them forgiveness, in contrast to the synagogue and the Temple. From Mark 7,17 onwards, Jesus' houses are a space for private teaching of the disciples, a place of prayer and service. The importance of the house reflects its role in the Markan community and inspires the BAPM, above all as a provocation to think about how it can be carried out outside the parish environment, based on different forms of small communities founded on the Word of God.
