Abstract

This research investigates the meaning of Christian hope, from a Pauline perspective, starting from Romans 5:1-5. In a society marked by the existence of seemingly insurmountable injustices and suffering, it is essential to reflect on the necessary Christian witness. This study shows that hope, a theological virtue, is closely related to the moral virtues of perseverance and maturity. Thus, Christian hope is cultivated both by Grace and by human effort. To achieve this goal, the research uses some stages of the Historical-Critical Method to analyze Romans 5:1-5 and, through bibliographical-exploratory research, presents the exegetical commentary of the pericope studied, as well as a reflection on the maieutic of hope.
