Contributions of the Dead Sea Scrolls to Biblical Knowledge

The article presents ten contributions of the Dead Sea Scrolls in relation to the biblical text. Several aspects stand out, such as fidelity to the text, creativity in its interpretation, diversity of translations, editorial processes, the evolution of the alphabet and families of texts. The contributions focus mainly on the Hebrew Bible and Judaism, but also influence the understanding of the New Testament and Christianity. The article aims to demonstrate, through illustrative examples, the importance of the discoveries of the Qumran Manuscripts for the understanding of the biblical text and its religious context. In this working hypothesis, the greatest discovery of manuscripts of the 20th century offers the best source of information to correct and expand the understanding of the biblical text and its surroundings. As a result, it is expected to present a portion of the contributions, in view of the increase in biblical and theological studies that take into account the texts of the Qumran community.
